Important Rules, Concepts and Procedures
- There are three kinds of work in Mr. Thomas' classes: (1) mastering content, (2) keeping track (of requirements and due dates), and (3) caring (about the work, the subject, and the class as a community of people.)
- Assignments should be done as soon as possible, but will typically be available for 7 days. This window of time provides students with the ability to fit work into their busy schedules and also the chance to practice time management.
- Due dates will be specified for all assignments. Any assignment not turned in by 11:59pm of the date specified will begin losing 10 points each day up to a total of half the assignment points.
- 'If at first you don't succeed, try, try again.' You don't need to be perfect, but you should be persistent. Therefore, all assignments may be redone as many times as you want. The final score is the highest score attained (keep in mind, though, that you will lose points if the assignment is late).
- I will accept late work (until the last day of each quarter). But I won't be happy about it. Turning in work late in the real world could get you fired.
- Since I am allowing you to make up late work throughout the quarter, and since you have plenty of time to complete work before the due date (almost all assignments are available 24/7!), there should be a reasonable penalty for not keeping up (see Rule #1 above). Therefore students will lose 10 points from their point total for every day they are failing the class.
- Extra credit is available on the course pages. You may complete as much as you want.
